Maintaining Your PowerStep Running Boards

Cleaning Your PowerStep Running Boards:

• Preparation:

  • Manually set the running boards to deploy:
    • Open the door.
    • Place your foot on the step and apply firm pressure.
    • Close the door while keeping pressure on the step. This will keep the steps in the deployed position.

• Cleaning Process:

  • Use a pressure washer to clean the front and rear linkages, covering all four hinge points.
  • Avoid spraying directly on the motors.
  • After washing, apply "Dry Silicone Spray" ONLY to all four linkage arms and pivot pins. Some pivot pins are located high on the linkage arm.
  • Cycle the door to work the lubrication into the hinge points.

• Important Maintenance Tips:

  • Do not use greases, oils, WD-40, or penetrants for lubrication.
  • Avoid applying silicone, wax, or protectants like Armor All® to any part of the running board.
  • Perform this cleaning periodically, especially when debris such as mud, dirt, or salt becomes trapped in the running board mechanism.
